    Bardon Management Tools Protect Against
Viruses, Worms, Spyware, Malware, Adware, And Trojans

    Bardon Data Systems

[Updated July 2006 to reflect WinU 6 and Full Control 3 which now include even more targeted tools focused on this issue.]

Malware (viruses, spyware, adware, Trojans, and other such nasties) that spread as executable programs have been an administrative headache for some time, and the problems they cause are getting worse. It used to be that a major new malware infestation appeared only a few times a year, but these days it seems there is a new threat every week. One wonders how long it will be until a major new one is released every single day.

Malware spreads through many channels, including web-based email, peer-to-peer networks, instant messaging, and others. It is not sufficient to simply scan all traffic through the company email gateway since many of these channels do not go through that gateway.

And these days Wi-Fi is on virtually every laptop, creating a new "back door" into the corporate infrastructure. With Wi-Fi, anyone can connect through any off-site public network at any time. Malware infections picked up in this way have free access to the computer, and eventually to the entire internal network.

However the malware arrives on the computer, though, the result is the same. If the virus program runs, it can damage the installation, delete files, format the hard disk, scan for privileged information and passwords, or take over the computer and use it as a "zombie" to attack others ... in your name!

You probably already have an antivirus product. But can it keep up? New viruses, spyware, malware, adware, and Trojans appear ever more frequently. Traditional antivirus products use 'virus definition files' to recognize offenders, and unlisted viruses won't be identified. In the old days, when only a few major new viruses appeared each year, this was sufficient. But antivirus vendors can only create updated virus definitions after they have seen the virus. And their installed antivirus product can only use the updated definitions after these are downloaded. When new malware appears weekly or even more frequently, this isn't good enough. We are rapidly entering a world where, by the time you get the updates that catch the last virus, the next virus is already out.

Bardon products can take care of this problem. They feature a multi-layered approach to stop malware cold.

The first layer is Bardon's Intrusion Control which watches for malware-like behavior in real-time on the computer, and prevents these nasties from setting themselves up on your system in the first place. It can protect silently and automatically, or ask what it should do when it discovers a questionable situation. The administrator can even customize it to handle different kinds of attacks in different ways. Bardon's Intrusion Control can also control data flow to/from USB ports and similar external sources, such as CD and DVD drives. This can prevent unauthorized data leaving the computer (data theft) as well as preventing unauthorized data entering the computer (spyware, malware, adware, Trojans, and similar nasties).

The second layer is Bardon's One Click System Stabilization, with which Bardon products can prevent any executable virus, spyware, malware, adware, or Trojan from running, whether it is an older 'known' virus or a brand new 'unknown' virus. Viruses, spyware, malware, adware, worms and Trojans are programs, and you (the administrator) have not set your Bardon product to allow them to run. So even if your anti-virus software has not yet been updated to identify the new nasties, they will not be able to affect your computers. If the virus program can't run, it can't infect your systems, or delete files, or take over your computer.

Instantly, you are protected from all these threats, whether known or unknown, today and into the future.
